MPCB Consent

MPCB Consent Consultant in Pune: CTE, CTO and Renewals

Every industry in Maharashtra that generates effluent, emissions or waste needs consent from the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board - Consent to Establish (CTE) before you set up, Consent to Operate (CTO) before production starts, and renewals on time after that. Miss a renewal and you risk notices, bank guarantee encashment, even closure directions.

SGM Enviro manages MPCB consents end to end from our Pune office: we assess which category your unit falls under (red, orange or green), prepare the application with the supporting documents, file it, respond to MPCB queries, and follow up until the consent is issued. We have done this work since 2009 for 191+ clients - from small units to large industrial plants across sugar, chemical, pharma, metallurgical and construction sectors.

What we handle

  • Fresh CTE applications for new units and expansions.
  • CTO applications once your unit is ready to operate.
  • Consent renewals - tracked and filed before expiry, so you are never operating on an expired consent.
  • Consent amendments for capacity or product changes.
  • NIPL certificates we are an MPCB-approved consultant for No Increase in Pollution Load certification, used in expansion cases.
  • Annual returns and the routine compliance MPCB expects alongside your consent.

The renewal trap (read this if your CTO is expiring)

Renewal applications need to be filed before the current consent expires. Units often discover the expiry late, then operate in the gap - which is exactly when inspections hurt most. Send us a copy of your current consent and we will tell you the renewal date, what has changed in requirements since your last filing, and what your specific renewal needs.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between CTE and CTO?

CTE (Consent to Establish) is permission to set up the unit - you need it before construction or installation. CTO (Consent to Operate) is permission to actually run it - you need it before production starts. They are two separate applications.

How long is an MPCB consent valid?

Validity depends on your category (red, orange, green) and the consent conditions. Check the validity date printed on your consent copy - or send it to us and we will map out your renewal schedule.

My consent expired. What now?

File for renewal immediately - the longer the gap, the harder the conversation with MPCB. We handle late cases regularly; contact us before an inspection does.
